Our story begins with the death of a man across a state line. Because of jurisdiction, this catches the attention of the FBI and two agents are assigned to the case - Fran Kulok (Carrie Anne Moss) and Tom Mackelway (Aaron Eckhart).
So far, clues are very scarce. All they have to go on is the victim was left in a mutilated state with the sign of a zero left next to the body.
Agent Mackelway is just coming off a suspension. He's not trusted within the department, he was transferred into this case, and he can't understand why this particular man was targeted for extermination.
His search for answers leads him to a project called Icarus.
It seems that Mackelway's suspect was a member of this program, and he has now gone renegade.
How can he find a suspect with zero patterns, and zero clues?
I can't give you that answer, faithful readers...
You'll just have to find out yourself!
I'd like to tell you that this movie had an excellent payoff and that it was well scripted and delivered. I'd also like to tell you that I found it entertaining and that the plot held together well.
I'd like to tell you these things, but I can't.
I honestly feel this movie had 2 storylines, one on the mental anguish of Agent Mackelway and the other on the breakdown of his suspect. One of the storylines was researched and worked on for the first 70 minutes of the movie.
The last 20 minutes, in my opinion, took a detour and focused on the other storyline. This felt extremely rushed, and disrupted the continuity of the film.
I feel that a movie shouldn't have too many subplots or main storylines, unless they can all flow together. In the case of Suspect Zero, they didn't mesh well. If they had another 20 minutes, they could have done more with the character studies and given us a clear picture of what was happening, instead of the quick storyline jumps.
However, this is simply my opinion, and it's your choice to decide if this movie is entertaining or not.
